全国で唯一、真珠装身具類の加工を行う障害者支援施設、大村パールハイム。
パールハイムさんはあこや真珠をリサーチし始めて知ったことでした。あこや真珠が、重度身体障害者の方々の自立に役立っていると知って素晴らしい取り組みだと驚きました。現在はあこや真珠だけでなくみなさんいくつかの種類の真珠全般に特化し、彼らそれぞれのできることに合わせたお仕事をされています。
この施設は、田崎真珠の創業者、田崎俊作氏が設立されました。大村湾は昔から真珠が豊かで、田崎真珠の養殖所もここにありました。松原が地元であった田崎氏は松原に松を植え景観を良くされたり、「障害者の人達が社会の中で健常者と同等に胸をはって、自立をする為には『金』だけですべてが解決する事でない、生きがいとなる『仕事』を持つ事であろう」（創立20周年記念誌より）と、
この施設を設立することになったそうです。その当時長崎県には障害者の方が働く場である授産施設は一つもなく、パールハイムの建設が初めてだったそうです。
現在、あこや真珠のお仕事が減っています。しかし、ここ大村パールハイムさんでしかできないお仕事があこや真珠に関してあります。田崎俊作氏がおっしゃったように皆さんが誇りを持ち活き活きとし、美しいものが生まれるように、acoyaはお仕事をお願いしています。その一つに、オランダのクリエーターとのデザインも今進めています。
良い循環が生まれることを願って acoyaは活動します。

the support facility for handicapped people in Omura City, Nagasaki.
This is the only one support facility that has been producing pearl jewelry with serious disability people in Japan. I got to know this facility when I had started researching akoya pearl in Nagasaki. I am surprised that Akoya Pearl could help people with disability to be independent and I believe it’s a wonderful initiative.
Presently this facility is focus on different kinds of pearl and it is giving different kinds of jobs to people with disability according to what they are able to do.
It was built by Shunsaku Tasaki who is the founder of Tasaki Pearl Company. Long time ago, the Omura Bay was known to be the Akoya Pearl.
Tasaki company had been cultivating pearl bed in this area before.
He lived in Matsubara town, he made an effort to take care of the town and the people especially those who have disability.
He said that people with disability are able to live as equal with others, those people are not just working to earn for a living but to have the motivation to live. The reason he created the facility is he wanted to give people with disability the purpose to live.
There was no such a facility where disability people could work at that time in Nagasaki. This Pearl Heim was the first one.
Nowadays, there are less work provided for Akoya Pearl but some special work can only be done in this facility. Acoya Brand wishes the people living in Pearl Heim to live comfortably, proud of their works.
So that I produce the work that is related to akoya pearl, one of them is starting to ask design to Dutch designer and creating together.
Acoya hopes we create beautiful harmony, beautiful things altogether.
