Visited Annelies Planteijdt, Zeeland in the Netherlands
In September of this year I visited Annelies Planteydta’s house in Zeeland, where she is one of the artists this year participating in the exhibition “Bones are Coral made, Pearls are Eyes”. We are working together 15 years.
As we talked about her work and her art, one simple statement touched my heart: She told me that when she was in college and struggling with her art, her teacher said to her: “You are wanting to create for something or rebelling against something. It was so simple, but it also totally made sense for my questions about art. Also, Bram’s words to me, aesthetic sense and that beauty is one of the formations of art, brought me a deep sense of relief and ease.
That day we talked until very late over a dinner that Annalise had prepared for us. It was a very nice experience for me.
