This is a sample book of Yonaguni Traditional textile. They have a lot of Shima ( stripe) patterns.
this is a map of trading ship authorized by the Tokugawa shogunate via China and Vietnam in 16C
Stripe, it’s called “Shima”in Japanese. Shima means “island”. Because stripe pattern of textile came from South East Asia by V.O.C. via Yaeyama, Yonaguni
islands.

Ganpi, it’s a very delicate but strong Japanese paper. Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn loved this Ganpi paper, he used a lot for his works.
